A native of Lincoln, Dr. Erika Houwman looks forward to every day she gets the chance to create positive change in the lives of others through their smiles. There is nothing more rewarding to her than being able to develop trustworthy relationships with her patients while helping them achieve their best oral health. Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Houwman is a third-generation dentist and knew from an early age that she wanted to help give others a beautiful smile just like her family members. After graduating from Lincoln Southwest High School, she went on to study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for her bachelor's degree before going to the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Houwman remains passionate and dedicated to attending continuing education courses to refine her skills and techniques so that she can provide the best possible care for her patients. She is also an active member of professional organizations like the American Dental Association and the Nebraska Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
At home, Dr. Houwman lives with her wonderful husband and their black labrador named Mango. Besides treating patients to create functional and esthetic smiles, she also enjoys things like traveling to new places, attending Husker sporting events, cooking, and taking Mango on walks.
